This generation, Baised off Abby Behen's poem, was created to raise awareness about suicide in a way that, as students, we werent exposed to by our school system. The prevention for suicide, my partner in making this film, Abby Behrens, and I feel that is most effective for the prevention of suicide would be to correct the confines that our society and culture place people. Although suicide is an extreamly complex and personal experence for everyone who has committed or attempted it, we feel that the main thing that external forces can do for thoghs affected is to make sure we understand the organicness of life (represented as red roses in the film) and correct societies notion of humanity that tells our generatoin that individuals have to fuction in a cirtan, mechanical way ( represented by gears) . This generation not only encorages us to look for signs of suicide but to attack it at its source by validating all ways of life.
Le film NOir
The genre of film, film noir has a very distinctive asthetic often due to color (or lack there of), quarky angles, transitions, ect.. The hope in making "Le Film Noir" was to capture an asthetic and the emotional connotations acosieated with the colors, Red, blue, and yellow and use them to characterize the subjects, using shots, angles, and lighting to capture this very specific feeling. In addition, the three characters are not connected in any way and truly the film has no major plot. essentally there are three intros in the film that are connected through color. As artists we often feel presure to make something that has a grand meaning and evokes change. Howerver, as highschool students we often find it difficult to conect to the granure of the issues that we are portraing. Our art then becomes inauthenic to ourselves. Although the organization in the film might seem randomized and shalow, it is acually to make the point that not everyting has a deeper meaning. Some things happen and are neither good nor bad, they simply mak you feel a cirten way. that art is meerly self expression and it is ok to make someting because it is cool or makes you feel a cirtan way. In emphisising asthetic "Le Film Noir" aims to make the audence feel something without conveying a larger meaning.
